Both these beaches are on the Gulf but are less well known, and secluded. The beaches here are wide and the sand is soft. Nearby Lido Key and North Lido Beach are easily accessible and so too is South Lido Beach Park. Whitney Beach is one of the best on Longboat Key and is on the north end of the island. A great place to watch the sun set. Beer Can Island Beach This is a secluded peninsula at the northern tip of Longboat Key. The 2,000 feet of sandy beach are excellent for shelling. It is best to come by boat or walk to the island at low tide. There are no facilities.
